Festival del Josco

September 27, 2015
All Day

Plaza Pública de Toa Alta

Festival del Josco is be a 1-day event in Toa Alta, a town located in the Northern coast of the island. It features live music, food kiosks, crafts and a mechanical bull competition that replicates the sensation of riding a rodeo bull

Toa Alta is also known as “Ciudad del Josco” based on the name of a character in one of Abelardo Díaz Alfaro’s short stories. “Josco”  was a native surly bull that struggled to defend his position before a new invader of his territory: the American bull. Although he won a fight with the other bull, Josco ended displaced, with his pride wounded, and committing suicide.
